As we approach Q4 of 2021, we have some new and familiar items to review when it comes to our technology access during the work week.
Please be careful and mindful when you are sent emails with attachments or external links embedded inside the message. It’s always smart to ask yourself these questions: Do you know the person sending you this attachment? Have you had previous correspondence with this individual? Can you verify that the @ domain (Example: @bdcgroupinc.com) associated with the person’s email address is legitimate? Always try to avoid clicking links embedded within messages that try to take you to a destination unless you can 100% verify the person who is contacting you directly. The same applies for suspicious attachments, specifically “zip” files.
Try to avoid getting in the habit of always saving your data to the Desktop, My Documents, Downloads or other folders that are only located on the hard drive of your laptop. Our server is setup with direct access to all employees for you to not only organize, but house important data that may be needed down the line. Our server is running hourly back ups between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. This means I would be able to recover any kind of data in the window should something go wrong or end up missing. You are running a high risk of only saving your data to the hard drive of your laptop. A VPN is pre-installed on all laptops and gives you the ability to save/access your data remotely as well.
We are entering the last three months of 2021 which means it is time to refresh your passwords! I will be contacting everyone within the next week with a full schedule of when the rollout will take place. All password requests will be processed through your personal BambooHR account, which in turn provides you with a back up copy of the password you set. Employees that opted out last time also have the opportunity to utilize the fingerprint login option (if available on the model of laptop you were provided).
I will also be rolling out a much easier ticket system in the next few weeks. Going forward, you will have the option to either contact me at a direct email address to open a ticket or login to a portal that allows you to monitor the status of your ticket. All BDC employees with company issued laptops or smartphones will be automatically registered to the portal service, should they opt to use that route versus direct email.
